Radio Nowhere—Custom Web Development

Radio Nowhere was a band with a lot of things going for it, including great songs, a happening stage show, and devoted fans in it for the long haul. However, the band’s website was not one of those things.

Though they did have their own site, it was really more of a glorified gig flyer than anything else. It showed what the band looked like, gave visitors a taste of their music and listed upcoming shows, but that was about it.

We thought that their website could work harder for the band—a LOT harder—so we collaborated to transform their site from a one-dimensional digital brochure into the central mothership of a multi-faceted system laser-focused on turning casual site visitors into avid Radio Nowhere fans. Here’s how:

Strategy is Job #1

Across the entire site, every element was optimized for one goal: enticing visitors into signing up for the band’s email list. This was a top priority we arrived at before writing a single line of code, and it informed design decisions as major as the choice of what headline content to spotlight on the homepage and as picayune as how many seconds should elapse between page load and the appearance of a mailing list signup form.

Know Your Audience

We built custom code integrations that provided real-time information on where each site visitor came from, which site pages they visited, and how long they spent on each—along with a metric ton of other useful data.

This kind of intelligence can be crucial when it comes to effectively allocating marketing assets, and it’s also a vital info source that can and should be revisited regularly to make sure your site continues to best serve your goals.

Security

Fortunately (sort of), one of the band’s previous websites had been hacked, so we didn’t have to tell them how important it was to make sure their site security, update regimen and backup scheme were absolutely bulletproof. We helped them choose an appropriate webhost, built an automated, redundant system for site backups, and made them change their site password to something other than “password” 😉
